Improved efficiency against air leakage has a number of benefits both financially and environmentally. This includes lower energy bills cutting costs, improved working conditions promoting increased productivity and a contribution to the reduction in carbon emissions.
Following the recent changes to the building regulations document L (conservation of fuel and power) we plan and advise suitable systems to achieve any air seal requirements to the most efficient means possible. The sealing requirements are important to help energy efficiency of the building, and to reduce energy bills and heat loss.
Rooms to which gaseous suppression systems are installed require annual integrity testing to ensure that the suppression system will perform if a fire should occur. The suppression systems duty is for the released agent to be held in the room for a minimum 10 – 20 minutes depending on the system installed. The agent if retained in the room will then extinguish the fire, If agent is not retained the suppression system will fail its duty.
We can offer integrity testing and solutions should the air retention time not be achieved. In most cases visual inspection in floor and ceiling voids find penetrations and services require sealing.
